Apple’s plans
to announce its latest and greatest product or products in San Francisco on
January 27th have created a sensational buzz with much speculation
as to what this announcement will be. Rumors about Apple having a table product
that compete with the Kindle have been circulating for months. Apple is known for being a market maker
with its distinctive products; so many people are wondering what will be new,
different and exciting about the product Apple will soon introduce. Kaufman Brothers analyst Shaw Wu indicated
that the device as mix between a Macbook and iPhone, resembling a supersized
iPod touch.
If it does
resemble a larger version of the iPod touch, it will provide multiple
capabilities including e-books, web browsing, gaming, video, iTunes and the ability
to run a large assortment of Apple applications. The screen will probably not be OLED and it is
expected to be somewhere between 7 to 11 inches in size. Product delivery may be pushed out to June to
tweak some battery life and durability issues, according to Wu. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is in talks with book publisher HarperCollins
which may involve eBooks. It has been
speculated that the iPhone OS 4.0 with new features may also be part of next
week’s announcement as well.
